One Way Life is a cultural house taking shape in Seattle. In carefully facilitated Gatherings, poetry and art open conversations, people turn toward each other, and meaning is made together.

It is not an open mic, a keynote or a networking night. Not a performance. A room.

Attention, together

The work exists to help close the gap between what we understand and how we live. Poetry gives us something to hear together; conversation leaves room for different lives and understandings.

Connection and reflection can lead to action. But not every conversation needs a conclusion. Sometimes it is enough to listen, notice something differently, and carry a question back into ordinary life.

The work today

Gathering No. 1 took place in Seattle. Gathering No. 2, The Spell and the Word, is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026. Alongside the public Gatherings are the Journal and Verbō, a slow monthly philosophical podcast.

We offer commissioned, facilitated poetry and conversation sessions for arts organizations and nonprofits, and their staff or communities. Circles, small continuing groups, are forming.

The people behind the house

Brian González is the founder. Artists, collaborators, organizers, facilitators and others help establish the foundations of the house. Founding Members recognizes meaningful contributions to that work, not attendance alone.

Tickets help with gathering costs, and Brian González covers the remaining costs. The community list is free; each gathering's ticket price is specified on its ticket page. We aim to prioritize fair pay for artists alongside the ordinary costs of the room, candles and printed poems.
